🚙 Hit and Run

A food delivery robot in Helsinki caused a stir recently when it slid off an icy sidewalk and collided with a car. The robot, which belongs to one of the largest delivery robot companies, Starship Technologies, didn't stay to exchange insurance details, but instead made a hasty exit from the scene.

The car’s owner found both doors of his car dented. This is not the first time delivery robots have caused havoc on public roads. They've previously been involved in getting lost in the woods, interfering with crime scenes, and even being implicated in bomb threats.

The Allen Institute for AI (AI2) has launched OLMo, a truly open-source large language model, marking a significant shift in AI development. Unlike current restrictive and closed models, OLMo offers complete transparency with access to the model code, weights, training code, training data, and toolkits. '

Released under an open-source initiative (OSI) approved license (Apache 2.0 License), OLMo represents a new type of language model that brings a fresh approach to machine learning research and deployment.

The launch of OLMo has been met with praise from the open-source AI community, with figures like Jonathan Frankle, Chief Scientist at MosaicML and Databricks, hailing it as a giant leap for open science.
