🗞 News of the day

🤖 Humane AI Pin Warning

Humane has issued an urgent warning to AI Pin owners about a potential fire hazard associated with a specific charging case.

  • Safety Alert for AI Pin Owners: Humane advises customers to stop using the charging case due to a risk of fire from third-party battery cells. The company has disqualified the problematic vendor and is searching for a new supplier.

  • Details on the Issue: The problem was discovered after a single incident involving a third-party USB-C cable and power source. Humane's investigation revealed that the supplier failed to meet quality standards, leading to the disqualification of the vendor.

  • Affected Products and Customer Compensation: The issue is limited to the Charge Case Accessory and does not impact the AI Pin, Battery Booster, or Charge Pad. To make amends, Humane is offering affected clients two free months of its subscription service, which is essential for most of the AI Pin's features.

Humane has promised to share more details once the investigation concludes, reinforcing their commitment to customer safety and product quality.

🔖 Today's Cool Story

🚨 AI in Traffic

AI Cameras to Catch Phone and Seat Belt Offenders in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire

Safer Roads Humber is borrowing some fancy AI tech from National Highways for a week starting on June 10. This isn't just any camera; it's like the Terminator of traffic cameras. It's designed to spot drivers who are glued to their phones or, you know, just too cool for seat belts.

This high-tech gadget uses artificial intelligence (AI) to flag anyone who might be breaking the law. But don't worry; it's not all up to the robots. Once the AI catches someone acting shady, a human officer reviews the image to make sure there's actually an offense happening.

If you get busted, you could face some hefty fines: £200 and six points on your license for playing Candy Crush while driving, or £100 for not wearing a seat belt. And, if you're the driver, you're also responsible for any little rebels under 14 not buckling up.

Ian Robertson from Safer Roads Humber is pretty pumped about this. He says this new gadget will really boost their ability to catch rule-breakers. While their current safety cameras can already spot mobile phone users and seat belt slackers, this new tech takes things up a notch.

Plus, in some cases, instead of a fine, you might get the chance to take an educational course. So, keep your eyes on the road and your seat belt on, unless you're into paying fines or taking surprise classes!
