🧑‍🦯 AI Blindness Cure

Elon Musk, the CEO of Neuralink, claims that their latest brain-computer chip, named Blindsight, has the potential to cure blindness. The chip offers low resolution at the initial stages, but Musk suggests that its resolution may surpass that of normal human vision in the future.

Interestingly, the chip has already demonstrated its capabilities by enabling blind monkeys to see, and there have been no serious injuries or deaths reported from its application.

Neuralink has also made strides in the field of telepathy technology. Their chip allows users to control computers using their minds. This was evident when a patient, post-implant, was able to move a cursor with their mind.

🌊 Google AI to Predict Floods

Google has leveraged the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to predict riverine floods up to a week in advance. The tech giant trained machine learning models using data from historical events, river level readings, and topographic details to generate localized maps.

These maps were then used to run hundreds of thousands of simulations in each location, leading to accurate flood predictions. This innovative application of AI has not only extended global nowcasts to five days but has also improved forecasting in underrepresented regions such as parts of Africa and Asia.

The impact of Google's AI-based flood forecasting is substantial, covering 80 countries and benefiting a population of 460 million. The forecasts are readily accessible to users through Google Search, Google Maps, and Android notifications.
