🚀 Nvidia AI to Replace Nurses

Nvidia has announced a partnership with Hippocratic AI, a company known for generative AI nurses, in an ambitious move to revolutionize the healthcare industry.

The AI nurses provided by Hippocratic AI, such as Rachel, offer round-the-clock medical advice over video calls, specializing in various fields from Colonoscopy Screening to Breast Cancer Care Management.

For a cost of $9 an hour, a stark contrast to the $90 an hour typically paid to human nurses, these AI nurses are being positioned not just as cheaper alternatives, but also as solutions to the persistent problem of worker shortages in the nursing industry.

🚨 AI to Design Antibodies

Researchers have successfully used an artificial intelligence tool called RFdiffusion to design mini-proteins. This tool was specifically adapted to model the flexible loops of antibodies. The team managed to design thousands of antibodies capable of recognizing bacterial and viral proteins, as well as targets for cancer drugs.

However, only about 1% of these antibody designs were able to effectively bind to their targets. Importantly, the structure of an influenza antibody was deciphered using cryo-electron microscopy.

This research is a significant stride in the field of antibody drug development, and many companies are now employing generative AI for this purpose. The RFdiffusion tool is aimed at targeting drug receptors that are considered challenging.

While the antibodies designed will need modifications before they can be used therapeutically, they are single-domain and thus simpler to study. This work serves as an early proof-of-principle for future antibody drug design. Despite the potential challenges, this innovative approach highlights the potential of AI in advancing healthcare.
