🗞 News of the day

🤖 Jailbroken ChatGPT

A hacker named Pliny the Prompter has released a jailbroken version of ChatGPT, called GODMODE GPT, which bypasses OpenAI's protective measures.

  • Hacker's Creation: Pliny the Prompter announced GODMODE GPT on X-formerly-Twitter, claiming it can bypass OpenAI's guardrails. This hack allows users to access the AI's unrestricted capabilities, as demonstrated by screenshots showing the AI responding to illicit prompts.

  • Guardrails and Restrictions: OpenAI's guardrails are meant to prevent the AI from generating harmful content and ensure responsible use. The GODMODE GPT hack highlights the ongoing battle between hackers and OpenAI's efforts to maintain these restrictions.

  • Testing and Concerns: The editor-in-chief tested GODMODE GPT with illicit prompts, successfully getting responses on how to make LSD and hotwire a car. This raises serious concerns about the potential misuse of AI and underscores the need for stronger AI regulation and security measures.

The hack serves as a warning to AI developers about the importance of prioritizing security and ethics in future AI developments.

🚨 AI in Premier League

Premier League Embraces AI for Offside Decisions

Alright, football fans, hold onto your jerseys because the Premier League is making some major changes for the 2024/25 season! They're rolling out new tech to make offside decisions quicker and more accurate.

Thanks to Second Spectrum, an American software company, this artificial intelligence will use a whopping 10,000 data points to determine if a player is offside, cutting down those nail-biting delays by an average of 31 seconds. Finally, no more waiting an eternity for the referee to decide if your team scored!

Now, we all know VAR has been a bit of a hot mess since it was introduced. Fans are split on whether it's a savior or a curse. Currently, VAR officials use a laborious process of drawing lines to figure out player positions, leading to some pretty heated arguments and calls to get rid of VAR altogether.

Wolves even tried to submit a resolution to scrap it! But don't worry, the Premier League clubs have approved semi-automated offsides, so hopefully, this new tech will bring some much-needed peace.
