⚠️ Zuckerberg's Scary Plans

Mark Zuckerberg's recent announcement about his plans to build an open-source Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) has raised eyebrows in the tech industry. AGI refers to AI that matches or surpasses human intelligence.

To further these plans, Zuckerberg has purchased 350,000 Nvidia H100 graphics chips, the gold standard for powering AI models.

The concept of releasing this kind of technology as open-source has sparked concerns among experts.

Dame Wendy Hall, a computer scientist, and Andrew Rogoyski, director of the Institute for People-Centred AI, have expressed their reservations about open-sourcing AGI. They believe that it's like handing out templates to build nuclear bombs.

They emphasize that such powerful technology must be regulated and its progression should be handled carefully.

🤖 Google Stole AI

Google is facing a $1.67 billion lawsuit from tech company Singular Computing, which alleges that the tech giant stole its patented AI technology for use in its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs).

The Massachusetts-based company claims that Google used the stolen technology as the basis for AI features in its services, including Search and Gmail. Google, however, maintains that its chipsets were developed independently and that Singular's technology was fundamentally different and error-prone.

The lawsuit comes after Google's first TPU was launched in 2016, with Singular arguing that the second and third versions of Google's TPUs, released in 2017 and 2018, infringe on its patents.
