🤖 AI to Fight Baldness

AI is revolutionizing the fight against hair loss with groundbreaking advancements.

  • AI and Hair Loss: Researchers are using AI to identify compounds that combat reactive oxygen species, a cause of baldness. One AI-predicted compound, MnPS3, has shown impressive results in reducing reactive oxygen species and promoting hair growth in mice, outperforming traditional treatments like minoxidil.

  • Causes of Baldness: Baldness is often due to aging, alopecia, and oxidative stress, which damages hair follicles. Reactive oxygen species, high levels of free radicals, and the body's overwhelmed antioxidant defenses are significant contributors to hair loss.

  • AI in Scientific Research: AI is accelerating the discovery of new compounds and nanozymes, showcasing its potential in medicine. This technology is also being applied in various fields, from communicating with animals to discovering new drugs, underscoring AI's growing role in scientific advancements.

🚨 AI Judge Issues Harsher Punishments

AI Systems May Judge More Harshly Than Humans

A new study has found that artificial intelligence (AI) might be a bit too strict when it comes to making judgments and issuing penalties. The research, which comes from the brainiacs at MIT and the University of Toronto, looked into whether AI can mimic human judgment.

The study points out that the way we label data when training AI is super important. When researchers used descriptive data—basically a rundown of what happened without human opinions—the AI went all Judge Dredd on us, making harsher rulings.

On the flip side, when they used normative data, where humans explicitly label what counts as a violation, the AI's judgments were more like those of a reasonable human. The takeaway? If you want your AI to be fair, you gotta be careful about how you label your data.

The study suggests improving the data labeling process to make AI judgments more human-like.
