🚨 UK AI Apocalypse

A recent report has issued a significant warning about the potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the UK job market. It suggests that nearly 8 million jobs could be replaced by AI, particularly affecting women, younger workers, and those in lower-paid roles.

Entry-level, part-time, and administrative jobs are considered especially vulnerable. The report also highlights that 11% of tasks currently undertaken by workers are at risk, a figure that could escalate to 59%, with routine cognitive tasks like database management and scheduling already under threat.

In analyzing 22,000 tasks, the study shows the potential displacement of 7.9 million jobs. However, the report also suggests that AI could boost the economy by 4% in the best-case scenario.

🤖 Apple WWDC 2024

Apple is set to host its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10, 2024, where it will present updates to its operating systems, potential hardware releases, and a particular focus on its advancements in artificial intelligence (AI).

Key operating systems updates include iOS 18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and an upcoming macOS edition. The iOS 18 update is expected to bring a significant redesign of UI elements.

The tech giant is also anticipated to release major feature updates for visionOS, and showcase AI enhancements, notably for Siri and iOS.

In terms of hardware, the conference may see the introduction of new devices, with speculations hinting towards the launch of the M3 Ultra chip, possibly within a Mac Studio update. However, a potential Mac Pro update featuring the M3 Ultra chip might not occur in 2024.

Apple is expected to concentrate on professional-grade hardware upgrades. Developers are also likely to see improvements in development tools, including AI tools for code prediction and completion.

The conference will run from June 10 to June 14, with developers participating in person at Apple Park through a lottery system.
