🚀 Robots and ChatGPT for Autism

Italian researchers have made a huge breakthrough in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) therapy field. They have ingeniously fused OpenAI's ChatGPT with a humanoid robot named Pepper. This is to boost social interaction, communication, and cognitive skills for people with ASD.

This fresh approach marries the reliability of robotics with AI’s intricate language processing capabilities, potentially opening up a new chapter in ASD therapy. The Pepper robot, complete with cameras, microphones, and sensors, combines ChatGPT's advanced speech recognition and language understanding to offer a dynamic, interactive experience.

🧠 No Brain Chip Please

A recent poll revealed that the concept of brain chips, despite being a prominent feature in many science fiction novels, isn't quite catching on with the American public. Only 8% of respondents expressed a willingness to have a computer chip implanted in their brain, even if the technology were to move past the experimental stage and become commercially available. On the other hand, a resounding 82% expressed staunch opposition to the idea, while 10% remained undecided.

The poll also presented some interesting demographic differences. Men were found to be over three times as likely as women to consider a brain chip implantation, and political affiliations also played a role, with Democrats and Independents twice as likely as Republicans to entertain the idea.

Furthermore, the poll discovered a discernible correlation between science fiction readers and interest in brain chips. Notably, 19% of respondents who had read 'Dune' or 'Ender's Game' showed interest in commercially available brain chips. So, Elon Musk might have better luck pitching his brain chips in a book club rather than the commercial market.
