🚨 Google’s Anti-Theft AI
Google Tests New Anti-Theft AI Feature in Brazil
So, Google's got this shiny new anti-theft feature for Android phones, and guess what? They're starting the test in Brazil.
Using some fancy AI, this feature can tell if your phone's been stolen and then lock it up tight. They've got three types of locks to choose from, making it super versatile. Starting in July, folks in Brazil with Android version 10 or higher can try it out, and it'll roll out to other countries later this year.
One of the locks uses AI to figure out if your phone's moving in a way that screams, "I've been stolen!" and then blocks the screen. Another lets you lock your phone remotely by entering your number and jumping through a quick security hoop from another device.
The third? It locks your phone if it loses internet access for too long. You get to pick which one works best for you, keeping those sneaky thieves from getting into your stuff.
Why Brazil, you ask? Well, phone theft is a huge deal there, with almost a million phones stolen in 2022 alone. It's a problem that's only growing, so the Brazilian government is stepping in too. They even launched an app called Celular Seguro, which lets you report and block stolen phones.
With 2 million users and 50,000 phones blocked already, it's making waves. If these initiatives work, they could expand globally, setting a new standard for phone security and giving thieves a run for their money.
