🤖 AI Determining Sex From Dental X-rays
Researchers in Brazil have developed an AI system that can determine an individual's sex from dental X-rays with remarkable accuracy.
AI Achieves High Accuracy: The machine-learning system developed by Brazilian researchers achieved a 96% accuracy rate in identifying sex from dental X-rays. This accuracy was influenced by factors such as the resolution of the images and the age of the individuals, with the best results seen in those over 16 years old.
Importance in Forensic Science: Determining sex is a crucial aspect of forensic investigations, often relying on bone analysis. The AI tool is particularly useful in forensic dentistry, where it helps interpret dental X-ray images to reveal information not visible to the naked eye, enhancing the accuracy of sex determination in complex cases.
Study Details and Data: The study involved collecting 207,946 panoramic radiographs from 15 clinical centers in Brazil, mostly from female patients. The data was used to train two machine-learning algorithms, with image resolution identified as a critical factor in the AI system's performance. This large dataset was essential for developing an effective tool for sex determination from dental X-rays.

🚨 OpenAI’s NDAs are Illegal
Whistleblowers say OpenAI's NDAs are illegal.
Whistleblowers are saying OpenAI is playing dirty with their non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). According to these whistleblowers, OpenAI is stopping employees from talking to government regulators. An anonymous whistleblower even got their lawyers to send a letter to Gary Gensler, the SEC Chair.
This letter claimed OpenAI's severance, non-disparagement, and NDAs are a bit too restrictive and might actually be illegal. The whistleblowers think these NDAs are scaring employees and investors from reporting any shady securities stuff.
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, seems to be feeling the heat. He admitted that their employee exit agreements weren't exactly winning any popularity contests. Altman said they were working on changing these NDAs.
The agreements were getting a lot of flak for possibly taking away former employees' vested equity. But OpenAI promised they wouldn't do that. They're now trying to fix the standard exit paperwork to make everyone a bit happier.
