🚨 Chatbot Goes Rogue

Air Canada recently came under scrutiny after its AI chatbot mistakenly promised a refund to a customer, against the airline's policy. The chatbot advised the customer to book the ticket and then request a refund. However, Air Canada's policy stipulates that post-flight refunds are not permitted without prior approval.

A tribunal heard the case and ruled in the customer's favor, ordering Air Canada to carry out the refund that their AI chatbot had promised.

In an attempt to evade responsibility, Air Canada argued that the chatbot was a separate legal entity, thus they were not accountable for its actions. Nonetheless, the tribunal held the airline responsible, and ordered it to pay the promised refund. Following this incident, the chatbot was removed from the airline's website.

ElevenLabs is developing a text-to-sound model. This technology will allow creators to produce sound effects by simply writing a description of their imagined sound.

The company has not yet made the model available to the public, but a teaser was released to showcase its potential. This teaser included a video produced by OpenAI's Sora but enhanced using ElevenLab's AI-generated sounds.

ElevenLabs is encouraging potential users to join an early access waitlist for the model.
